Naturalization

Naturalization is the process in which a lawful permanent resident can obtain U.S. Citizenship after meeting the established requirements. A successful application would give you the right to vote, serve on a jury, travel with a U.S. passport, apply for federal jobs, become eligible for federal grants and scholarships, and receive other government-related benefits.

Lawful permanent residents should be encouraged to apply for U.S. Citizenship as soon as their eligible, to enjoy the benefits the U.S. offers, and to alleviate any concern of removability.
